Why are we providing this training?
- Patients should have their ability to use an inhaler device regularly assessed by a competent healthcare
professional and, if necessary, should be re-taught the correct technique. (NICE Clinical Guidelines 101 (2010) COPD and BTS/SIGN Asthma Guidelines (Oct 2014))
- Many people including patients and healthcare professionals find it difficult to use their inhalers correctly.
- Incorrect usage reduces the effectiveness of the therapy thus increases unnecessary use of antibiotics.
Aims and Objectives
By the end of the session you will be able to:
- Recognise and discuss advantages and disadvantages of numerous inhaler delivery systems
